Outages affecting VEC Customers
Approximately 15,000 Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC)Customers are without power in the wake of storms that passed through the area Friday evening. The majority of outages have been reported in VEC's coverage area in Bradley and McMinn counties. Areas served by four VEC substations - Tasso, Charleston, and Hopewell in Bradley County, and Riceville in McMinn County - have been the hardest hit. VEC crews are working to restore power and will be working continuously until all power has been restored. The VEC Operations Department reports that major repairs could be completed as soon as 10:30 p.m. Friday (Eastern Time) but it could take longer to restore power to every customer. VEC officials apologize for any inconveniences the outages may cause and said crews will be working non-stop for as long as it takes to get power restored to all customers.
