TVA Upgrades Require Outage for VEC Customers
Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC) customers in Rhea County will experience a power interruption while Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) crews upgrade service in the area on Friday, October 30.
About 7,500 customers served through VEC’s Spring City Substation will temporarily lose power as TVA crews upgrade the 161 KV service in the area.
The outage is scheduled to begin at midnight Friday night and will extend for about two hours until 2 a.m. Saturday.
VEC’s Vice President of Operations Clyde Jolley said he apologizes for any inconveniences the outage may cause, but it is necessary to make improvements to the system. TVA’s upgrades will result in improved service and better reliability for VEC customers.
