Wind Contributes to Spring City Outage

High winds late Tuesday night contributed to an equipment malfunction at Volunteer Energy Cooperative's Spring City substation that briefly knocked out power to about 7,300 VEC customers.

Wind separated a coupling at 10:46 p.m. Tuesday. Crews were able to repair the damage at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday. After re-energizing the lines, crews were forced to re-set several breakers.

VEC's Vice President of Operations Clyde Jolley apologized for any inconveniences the outage may have caused.
